2016 Canadian Fullbore Championships

When I retired from the Army Marksmanship Unit, one of my main goals (besides moving, buying a house, getting the kids settled in a new school, working on the new house, making sure the Wife was happy, starting a new job, etc.) was to, once again, compete as a shooter. My last 13 years at the Army Marksmanship Unit were spent as the head coach. I learned early on that you cannot serve two masters; my coaching duties had priority, so I stopped competing in 2004. When I joined the Berger Bullets team, I was excited to find out that my boss, Eric Stecker, wanted [...]

200.20X – The Perfect Bullet for F-TR

New 200.20X Hybrid (left) and original 200 grain Hybrid (right). Competition drives innovation; and in the world of long range rifle shooting, the competition is tight! In recent years, the discipline of F-TR rifle shooting has evolved from its roots in Palma/Fullbore; moving from lightweight, 155 grain class bullets up to the heavy 215’s and everywhere in between. Even with the cartridge limitations in F-TR, shooters will still look for a performance advantage in other areas, such as bullet selection. In recent years, many of the top F-TR shooters and teams have gravitated toward the 200 grain class of bullet. This weight class [...]

2016 K&M Precision Rifle Competition

The 2016 K&M Precision Rifle Competition was held on May 27 - 29 in Finger, TN at the K&M Precision Rifle Training Shooting Complex. I had never been to K&M but knew I could expect excellence from the owner Shannon Kay. What makes K&M unique is it was purpose built for precision rifle training and competitive events from the ground up. The current range consists of more than 80 acres with a very recent acquisition of an additional 112 adjacent acres. On Friday, the range offered shooters an open range day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Steel targets were set out every 100 [...]
