New 200.20X Hybrid (left) and original 200 grain Hybrid (right). Competition drives innovation; and in the world of long range rifle shooting, the competition is tight! In recent years, the discipline of F-TR rifle shooting has evolved from its roots in Palma/Fullbore; moving from lightweight, 155 grain class bullets up to the heavy 215’s and everywhere in between. Even with the cartridge limitations in F-TR, shooters will still look for a performance advantage in other areas, such as bullet selection. In recent years, many of the top F-TR shooters and teams have gravitated toward the 200 grain class of bullet. This weight class [...]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHsqL80KpcE The next Applied Ballistics Seminar will be held May 23-24 at the Dallas/Addison Marriott in Dallas, TX. This two day seminar will cover practical elements of external ballistics. Information will be presented in a general way which applies equally to all long range shooting disciplines (hunting, target, tactical). Topics will be introduced from an academic first principles perspective. Once the scientific basis for the material is established, the ideas are further demonstrated with examples from instrumented live fire. They explain the science, and then present examples of the principles in action. The goal is that you’ll leave with an understanding of the subject [...]
Berger’s latest addition to the hunting line; the 270 caliber 170 grain Elite Hunter. This bullet is designed for maximum external and terminal ballistic performance in 270 caliber rifles that have twist rates faster than the traditional 1:10”. Nearly all rifles chambered for 270 caliber are fitted with 1:10” twist barrels. This relatively slow twist limits the length, weight and BC of bullets that can be stabilized. Typically, the heaviest 270 bullets are around 150 grains because that is all that can be stabilized in a 1:10” twist. However, if a faster twist barrel is used for a 270 rifle, it can stabilize a [...]
